Job Summary:


The Assistant Director in Childcare plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the childcare center. This position is responsible for overseeing the functionality of the center, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, and maintaining the center's vision and mission. The Assistant Director is the first point of contact for all staff, ready to step in for the director as needed, and works flexible shifts to accommodate the center's requirements. This role also involves responsibilities related to enrollment, financial management, staff support, and maintaining positive relationships with both staff and parents.

Key Responsibilities:


Support the Director: Provide essential support to the center director on a daily basis, stepping in when necessary and remaining on-site to ensure the smooth operation of the center.

First Point of Contact: Act as the primary point of contact for all staff, addressing their questions, concerns, and providing guidance when needed.

Flexibility: Work flexible shifts as required to meet the needs of the director and the childcare center, which may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekend shifts.

Vision and Mission: Assist in maintaining and promoting the center's vision and mission, ensuring all activities and operations align with these goals.

Compliance: Ensure that the center adheres to all local, state, and federal childcare regulations and licensing requirements.

Enrollment Management: Monitor and increase enrollment by coordinating tours for prospective enrollees, effectively presenting the center's offerings, and answering inquiries.

Financial Management: Prepare food orders on a weekly or biweekly basis, monitor non-payments of tuition, and assist with financial record-keeping as necessary.

Classroom Assistance: Provide support by covering lunch breaks, stepping into classrooms as needed due to staff absences, and ensuring that the center maintains appropriate staff-to-child ratios.

Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining children and staff files, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date.

Staff Meetings: Attend all staff meetings and contribute to discussions, fostering positive communication and collaboration within the team.

Relationship Building: Help establish and maintain positive communication and relationships with both staff and parents to ensure a supportive and inclusive childcare environment.

Additional Duties: Undertake any other duties as assigned by the director to contribute to the overall success and effectiveness of the childcare center.

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).

Previous experience in a childcare or educational setting, with supervisory or leadership experience.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal child care regulations and licensing requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Flexibility in work hours to accommodate the center's needs.

Dedication to the center's vision and mission, as well as the welfare and development of the children in care.
