2nd Deputy Auditor

Prior government ERP (Low) experience is a HUGE plus

This is a non-exempt position that reports directly to the Chief Deputy Auditor. This position is eligible for compensatory time.

This selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties which include or are not limited to:

• Supervises Office Staff and reports to Chief Deputy
• Performs Property Tax Settlement
• Certifies Net Assessed Values
• Performs Tax Calculation
• Maintains TIFs
• Enters Abatements
• Distributes Local Income Tax and other tax distributions
• Receipts
• Back-up Chief Deputy
  • Assist with Budget
  • Salary Ordinance
  • Assists with audit
  • Answers general questions related to finances
  • Assist with Grant Administration
• Maintains Internal Controls
• All other tasks and duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE:

Applicant should have advanced problem solving and analytical skills, be expert level with spreadsheets and numbers. We need a forward thinker that is able to understand complex concepts and ideas - then deliver solutions if necessary.

• This person is going to have to look at 66,000 property parcels and figure out if everything looks okay without looking at each one individually.
• They are going to have to make sure that the $100 million transaction of property tax settlement looks correct and balances.
• If they are brought an issue, they need to be thinking, are there more like this? If so, how would I find them?
• Once property taxes are calculated, they need to be able to learn the tax calc process enough they can explain it to taxpayers.
• They need to be able to understand the overview of property taxes- how assessments and budgets become tax rates, which become taxes, which are then settled and used to fund local governments
