SUMMARY:

The Laundry Room/Housekeeper is responsible for the laundry room and overall cleanliness of assigned areas. The Laundry Room/Housekeeper is responsible for other specific duties as outlined by Housekeeping Team Leader.  Accepts and is fully committed to overwhelming Biblical hospitality as exhibited through a clean, welcoming facility. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures that all dirty linen has been collected from the dorms daily.  Ensues all linen is washed, dried and folded daily.
  • Ensures all linen is counted and each area has what is needed for the number of guests in that area.
  • Ensures that all laundry equipment is in working order and reports any issues promptly.
  • Counts all linen as needed so that damaged or lost linen can be replaced.
  • Supervises laundry workers/Guest and reports any issues that may arise.
  • Cleans all assigned areas, following clearly defined standards for quality and consistency.
  • Performs housekeeping duties to include dusting, vacuuming, wet and dry mopping, glass cleaning, sweeping, emptying trash, detail and deep cleaning as needed, transporting trash to disposal area, replenishing restroom supplies, carpet and hard floor maintenance, etc.
  • Uses cleaning equipment properly and efficiently: carpet extractor, floor scrubber, floor burnisher, wet/dry vacuum, etc. 
  • Properly utilizes cleaning materials and chemicals, ensuring safe storage and disposal; notifies supervisor of inventory needs.
  • Keeps storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Performs duties safely and in compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with event set-ups as needed.
  • Notifies supervisor of maintenance needs.
  • Maintains proper boundaries with guests.
  • Exhibits a caring Christian lifestyle to residents, guests, staff and volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum one year commercial cleaning/housekeeping experience .
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and guidelines and to document basic information.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work within time constraints and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and effectively adapt to change.
  • Good communication skills and friendly demeanor.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper usage; working experience with commonly used housekeeping equipment.
  • Meet all requirements for driving in the state of Tennessee and maintain a current driver’s license.
  • Commitment to Christian faith required.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Light to medium industrial setting.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting equipment weighing up to 120 pounds.
  • Pushing/pulling as much as 300 pounds on a flat cart.
  • Walking or standing for long periods of time; bending, stooping, crouching, climbing as needed.
  • Various environmental conditions (cold, hot, dusty, wet and possible exposure to blood borne pathogens).
  • Occasional required attendance at KARM special events.
