Job Purpose - Water is one of the most important issues facing Colorado, and Resource Central helps people across Colorado put water conservation into action through sustainable landscaping. The Conservation Crew will play an essential role in Resource Central’s Lawn Replacement program by working on a dynamic team to remove water-thirsty lawns across the Front Range. This is a field-based role that involves driving from home to job sites daily. The compensation is $19.00/hr, plus mileage reimbursement, cell phone stipend, paid training, and sick leave.

Principal Responsibilities - The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work in small teams to remove sections of lawn to help participants conserve water.
  • Safely operate sod cutters and hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and picks. Lift and move sections of sod into trailers. Training will be provided.
  • Assist Crew Lead with daily tasks to ensure project goals are being met.
  • Fieldwork is primarily based in the Front Range. Traveling to other cities which include an extended commute or overnight stay may be required at times; travel pay and accommodations will be provided.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Cultivate a strong sense of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Skills and Abilities

  • Safely use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and picks.
  • Ability to safely lift 30 pounds repeatedly, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly.
  • Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and collaborate effectively independently or in a team environment.
  • Outstanding customer service; ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be passionate about helping people conserve water.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, daily access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone are required.
  • Must pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, construction, or sustainability is preferred but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
