Physical Therapy Assistant

Summary:
Provide direct patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. This position uses a variety of physical therapy techniques to restore individuals to maximum functional ability, independence, participation, and freedom from pain. Carries out plan of care set forth by physical therapist, performs treatment as indicated, assesses patient’s response to treatment, and collaborates with team. Performs related duties as assigned.
Typical Schedule:
Monday - Friday, Days
Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Must hold appropriate certifications and licensures to practice in the state of Wisconsin.
Responsibilities include:
- Utilizes exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and education to improve the patient’s overall mobility, pain, and functional ability.
- Provides education related to the treatment program, disease process, and prevention of further injuries to the patient, family/caregiver, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Carries out a plan of care and implements treatment plan set forth by physical therapist including exercise, manual therapy, modalities, and education.
- Collaborates with physical therapist to optimize a patient’s mobility, pain, and functional abilities.
- Assists in discharge planning process.
- Documents on electronic health system in a timely manner.
- Communicates with referring practitioner, nursing unit, and other departments when appropriate.
- Completes continuing education requirements.
