ICMS is seeking an experienced and multi skilled HVAC Technician to join our team in support of one of our federal clients. This position is 100% onsite at a Federal Government facility. This position is covered under the Service Contract Labor Standards Act.


The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Works closely with the O&M management team to assess issues, plan and schedule maintenance, and conduct root cause analysis of issues. Responsible for conducting daily tours of equipment and monitoring operational effectiveness, tenant comfort and identification of maintenance needs or developing trends or issues with equipment. Additional duties include:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnosis, service and repair of heavy commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems.
  • Test electrical currents or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
  • Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
  • Join pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant source, to form complete circuit.
  • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
  • Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools.
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
  • Provide timely and quality repairs of commercial grade ice makers, walk-in cooler/freezers and reach in cooler/freezers, etc.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on all HVAC related equipment
  • Log all refrigerant use IAW Fed, State and local EPA regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Following instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work on site during normal working hours; respond to occasional call-ins for special circumstances.
  • Read, understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacture’s recommendations of equipment.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power-hand tools, and complete roof inspections required by assignments.
  • Computer skills for record keeping in a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Attend training as scheduled and/or required.
  • Maintain all applicable certifications current with State of Louisiana or other reciprocal states.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
  • Knowledge of acceptable maintenance procedures and understanding of OSHA regulations. (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification highly desired)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Licensed HVAC Mechanic.
  • Active State HVAC licenses/certifications
  • A valid state driver’s license with no major infractions
  • Experience in HVAC, air handling, deionizer water, chilled water condenser, hot water, compressed air, electronic gate systems, and boilers.
  • EPA 608 Certification for Types I, II, and II is required
  • Experience managing personnel, scheduling, operations, practices, techniques, and managing daily performance of the contract work.
  • Reliable transportation to work.
  • Be able to regularly Lift, Carry, Push/Pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Capable of passing a federal security background investigation and participate in E-Verify.

PREFERRED:

  • Boiler experience a plus
  • Experience working in a government facility.
  • TRANE Chiller experience
  • TRANE Automation System experience.

Additional Qualifying Factors:

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.


Security Clearance Requirements:

It is mandatory that all Contractor personnel working onsite at federal facilities meet federal government security clearance standards. The Contractor shall submit security clearance information, for each employee, as required by current government identification card application procedures and future requirements as applicable. All employees must be authorized as acceptable under by the contracting officer for the prime contract under which this employee is working.

Pay Rate: $28.65/hour
