Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Exercise Physiologist to oversee and guide our Exercise Physiology (EP) team in providing top-notch fitness, training, and wellness services for DOE/OST. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of knowledge in exercise physiology, serve as a visionary team leader, and drive process improvements and compliance initiatives. This role involves overseeing various programs, conducting assessments, and leading a team to enhance the productivity and health of Federal Agents.

  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Act as a visionary team leader, guiding, mentoring, and motivating the EP team to excel in service delivery for DOE/OST.
    • Provide EP team development and training in exercise testing technology, physiology, and quality assurance standards.
    • Lead Process Improvement initiatives and benchmark responsibilities for program changes.
    • Conduct monthly conference calls with EPs to discuss program updates, problems, solutions, and ensure consistency.
  • Program Management and Compliance:

    • Ensure program compliance with all applicable OST/DOE policies and directives.
    • Oversee the Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) Fit Testing at all DOE/OST sites and serve as the primary point of contact for RPP Fit Testing with FOH.
    • Take responsibility for program compliance issues and provide input on EP team members for annual performance reviews.
    • Compile statistics, generate reports, and present the effectiveness of Wellness/Fitness programs to DOE/OST management.
  • Site Assistance and Policy Development:

    • Conduct Site Assistance Visits (SAVs) once per year for each DOE/OST site as requested.
    • Lead the development of policies, SOPs, and protocols for DOE/OST related to Fitness, Training, or Wellness.
    • Act as the primary point of contact with DOE/OST management in staffing such policies, SOPs, or protocols.
  • Fitness and Wellness Interventions:

    • Deliver a range of interventions, including health behavior change counseling, exercise activity prescription, and supervision to individuals and groups.
    • Perform full fitness assessments, risk factor screenings, and write exercise prescriptions/programs for Federal Agents.
    • Time Federal Agent runners for PPQ’s and present wellness and fitness topics to Federal Agents.
    • Assist in coordinating the physical fitness conditioning program for Federal Agents and recommend fitness equipment purchases.
  • Administrative and Support Duties:

    • Attend all OST meetings involving Fitness, Training, or Wellness as the Subject Matter Expert (SME).
    • Coordinate with the Medical Contract Coordinator to resolve EP-related issues and assist in the design, development, and revision of training lesson plans.
    • Perform general office duties supporting EP fitness and health programs, including conference calls, data management, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Continuous Professional Development:

    • Maintain a high level of current knowledge in exercise physiology through ongoing education, professional articles, and conferences.
    • Maintain required certifications and provide professional input to new or ongoing OST projects related to fitness.
Qualifications

  • Board-certified Exercise Physiologist or similar credentials.
  • Extensive experience in exercise physiology with at least two years of experience in critical roles.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in guiding and mentoring a team.
  • Strong knowledge of fitness and wellness program management, including compliance and process improvement.
  • Proficiency in fitness assessment, exercise prescription, and risk factor screening.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain compliance with all relevant policies and directives.

Compensation - Min: $105,000| Max: $125,000

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

Benefits - This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
