Job Description

Terrapin is looking for a Dispensary Pharmacist to join our growing company. As a Clinton County, Penn.-based cannabis company, Terrapin is a pioneer in the emerging industry. Terrapin is a cultivator and processor of high-quality medical and recreational cannabis products with plans to open a retail footprint in Pennsylvania. With over 15 years of industry experience, Terrapin was licensed to operate in the Pennsylvania marketplace in 2017, growing to more than 135 employees. Retail expansion plans in Pennsylvania have created a need for a Dispensary Pharmacist.

The Dispensary Pharmacist will ensure patients receive the correct therapy in conjunction with the recommendations made by the patient's certifying physician via the Department's Medical Marijuana Program website, as well as providing education and counseling as needed. The Pharmacist will serve as subject matter expert on cannabis pharmacological knowledge, brand ambassador, patient advocate and staff mentor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required by the Department of Health to check Patient Certifications through the Patient Portal upon all dispensing events while on duty.
  • Conduct individual patient consultations to determine the best therapy in conjunction with the recommendations made by a patient's physician.
  • Review and submit appropriately with the state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
  • Comply with state laws as regulated by the state medical cannabis program
  • Protect patient rights by adhering to HIPAA guidelines and maintaining the confidentiality of medical and financial information.
  • Understand how different patients or their debilitating illnesses interact with specific cannabis properties, brands, strains, dosages, potencies, and forms of delivery.
  • Participate in physician and provider outreach and education programs.
  • Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing professional networks.
  • Support marketing content creation on a by-project basis.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer usage, including retail point-of-sale software, all MS Office applications, email, scheduling software, and online conferencing.
  • Guide patients and collaborate with employees on cannabis recommendations, including product selection, effects, potency, dosing, methods of consumption, and administration.
  • Willing to conduct other dispensary tasks, such as greeting patients at reception and working the sales floor; contribute to the dispensary team's efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request by any member of management.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
  • 1+ years experience working in a pharmacy setting assisting patients/customers
  • Cannabis experience preferred
  • An active pharmacist license in good standing without restrictions registered in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule and willing to work evenings, weekends, some holidays, as well as opening and closing shifts
  • Must complete a mandatory 4-hour Pharmacist Certification required by the PA Department of Health in addition to the PA TRAIN dispensary employee certification
  • Ability to learn and understand cannabinoids and how they interact with the human body
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, management, patients, governmental agencies, community members and the general public
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
