Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAs a litigation paralegal you will find yourself at the center of the legal process, playing an essential role in managing and organizing legal proceedings. This dynamic role allows you to contribute significantly to the law firm’s success, which involves a variety of tasks related to both the pre-trial and trial stages. As the litigation paralegal you will assist our attorneys in the litigation process. This can include conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, organizing, and coordinating legal proceedings and preparing reports to help our lawyers prepare for trials. You will be required to interact with clients, witnesses, and court personnel. Below is a list of the responsibilities for our litigation paralegal:

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze files and records.
  • Assist with case planning and trial preparation.
  • Draft and prepare a wide range of legal documents.
  • Communicate with witnesses and assist with preparation of witness testimony.
  • Compile trial exhibits, files, notebooks, and other documents.
  • Conduct legal research and investigations.
  • Coordinate subpoena deliveries.
  • Prepare damages summaries and complex spread sheets.
  • File documents with the courts.
  • Issue legal correspondence.
  • Manage discovery between parties.
  • Manage the legal library.
  • Schedule meetings, interviews, mediations, and evaluations.

Qualifications
  • Certified Paralegal
  • > 2 years of paralegal experience in commercial litigation
  • Familiar with complex legal litigation (multi-party cases)
  • Commercial litigation experience a plus
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Associate degree (or higher)
  • Basic understanding of legal principles and proceedings
  • Hyper organized
  • Superior MS Word and Excel skills. Knowledge of styles, pivot tables, and other advanced functions required
  • Refined written and verbal communication skills

  • Communication
  1. Be able to work with a variety of people, including lawyers, clients, and other professionals.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  3. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing such as email, phone, or letters.
  4. Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and affidavits is crucial. These documents must be accurate, clear, and concise, ensuring the client's case is well represented.
  •   Research Skills
  1. Must know how to use different legal research databases.
  2. Be able to use the internet and other resources to conduct research.
  • Organization Skills
  1. Have a high level of organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  2. Proactive in adding information to files as new information comes in. Keep all documents and files organized.
  3. Keep up with databases and other applications needed to manage legal cases.
  4. Organizing meetings, hearings, depositions and trials. Confirming times with all parties involved and ensuring all necessary materials are ready.
