Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is recruiting a licensed mental health professional to join its School and Community Programs team in the San Francisco Bay Area. Clinicians provide evidence-based service delivery in high-need school and community settings in the San Francisco Bay Area, including prevention-focused mental health skill-building to K-12 students, therapeutic intervention for students who have experienced trauma, and educator professional training and caregiver workshops. To date, the School and Community Programs team has served over 53,000 students, educators, caregivers, and mental health providers across the United States with effective school-based treatment, social-emotional skill-building, and professional training. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a fast-growing and innovative program and will be able to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, School and Community Programs, this is an exempt, full-time position based at our San Mateo office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide observation and screening of children presenting with mental health issues in the school setting.

  • Conduct evidence-based group therapy for students who have experienced traumatic events, focused on decreasing symptoms of posttraumatic stress and improving functioning and quality of life both at home and at school

  • Consult with educators and school staff on implementation of strategies to reduce mental health symptoms and promote school success

  • Facilitate class-wide social-emotional skill building workshops drawn from cognitive-behavioral techniques.

  • Provide teacher training workshops in partner schools around San Francisco, covering topics such as Educator Stress Reduction and Trauma-Informed School Support.

  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, clinical counseling or marriage and family therapy with current BBS/BOP license or registration as an associate. There will be an opportunity to earn clinical hours under supervision if needed.

Or Current CA licensure/registration in good standing as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC and other related fields allowing for independent practice and delivery of mental health services.

  • Exceptional clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mental health disorders, in addition to demonstrated experience in engaging families and educators in treatment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one evidence-based intervention for post traumatic stress with an interest in learning additional interventions.

  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking to a variety of audiences, including educators, school administrators, and parents and caregivers.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidate preferred.

  • Motivated self-starter with great attitude, flexibility, and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Able to work under pressure to prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines within a fast paced and changing environment.

  • Flexibility to work hours to meet productivity goals and deadlines.

  • Strong teamwork ethic; positive, flexible attitude; ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities.
