Summary/Objective:

This position is responsible for the layout, fit and assembly of molds. Additionally, this position will also build/modify parts to make and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures and gauges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Performs complete tear down of molds – clean, inspect, part replacement, grease, and reassemble.
  2. Repairs flash through effective welding of parting lines.
  3. Handworks and polishes all cavity surfaces.
  4. Maintains manifolds, hot runners, and valve gates
  5. May replace worn-out valve pins, tips & heaters
  6. Knowledge of tool room equipment: mill, lathe, and surface grinders.
  7. Answers production calls and performs repairs quickly to ensure customer needs are met.
  8. Have working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  9. Performs engineering changes or repairs which consist of TIG welding and using pneumatic tools such as pencil, straight, and right angle grinders.
  10. Reviews tooling request with Tooling Engineer and determine if the request is to be processed internally or externally.
  11. Assists in maintaining parts inventory for common replacement items such as; springs, ejector pins, sleeves, etc.
  12. Maintains housekeeping of tooling equipment and area.
  13. Manufactures and repairs fixtures and specialized tools as requested and approved by the Engineering Manager.
  14. Provides tooling assistance to the Maintenance Department as approved by the Plant Manager.
  15. Responsible for maintaining Profile system and PM software.
  16. Coordinates shipments of tools to vendors and customers.
  17. Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

Education and experience required for the role.

  1. Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
  1. Minimum 5 years’ experience within the plastics industry.
  2. 3+ years tool building experience in injection molding.

M-F 7am-3:30pm
40 hrs
