Engineer- SME

Research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. May supervise the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components

Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. May work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements. May maintain databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

Function: Applies general engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate test and training Range instrumentation systems, data acquisition and display systems, and test communication systems. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analy ses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies general engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management. Works independently on more complex tasking and consults with senior engineers as needed. The work quality of data quality engineering products and services is spot checked by senior engineers. Oversees the quality of work products and services of junior engineers. Supports tasking working with more senior engineers.

Education: BS Degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering having at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or in related disciplines such as physics, mathematics or computer science).

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience performing the stated or similar functions.

Specialized Experience and Skills: At least 2 years of work experience associated with engineering functions as related to development, test, or evaluation of instrumentation systems. Possess an academic and work experience background in such areas as preparation of technical and operational test plans, execution of sophisticated tests, certification of systems, logistic support planning, technical data review, and analytical interpretation of test results. Knowledge of computer systems, software, networks, interfacing.
