Large, well established contractor of over 20 years is hiring immediately for Skilled Carpenters with commercial experience. Projects are commercial new construction and renovations in the Northern VA area, DC and Maryland.

If so, we want you to be a part of our dynamic team Skillforce Inc. is looking for a professional carpenter with the ability to work within a crew of other talented craftsmen. You must be detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision. Pay is based on your experience and proven prior work history.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures in commercial settings. You will work on various projects, including office buildings, retail spaces, and other commercial properties, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct and Install: Build, install, and repair wooden frameworks, including partitions, walls, and cabinetry, according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Measure and Cut: Accurately measure and cut wood and other materials using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read Blueprints: Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and layout.
  • Maintain Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment on job sites.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with other tradespeople, project managers, and clients to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and assess work to ensure it meets quality standards and client expectations.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the construction or installation process.
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain and care for tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Site Clean-Up: Keep work areas clean and organized, disposing of waste materials properly.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience as a commercial carpenter or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Skills: Proficient in using various hand and power tools, and a solid understanding of construction techniques and materials.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
  • Safety Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Certification: Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., carpenter's license) preferred but not required.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
