Position Summary:

The OSP Technician Level I is responsible for the timely movement of material from SIG Operations to outside vendors. The OSP Technician Level I also receives the material once it is processed through external vendors. OSP Technician Level I will with work both independently and in a team environment. This position is responsible for coordinating with external vendors, planners, inspection, and receiving.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • Maintains inventory, by identifying, labeling, and placing materials, products, and supplies in the proper inventory location.
  • Basic ability to use ERP/MRP system(s) to read pack and slips.
  • Creation of a work order and processing in progression as outlined on the work order. Requisition of material is created from the warehouse and material is issued. Work order is then moved through Oracle.
  • Prepare shipping documents using the Oracle-based MRP system. Assemble containers and/or pallets, pack goods to be shipped, and attach relevant paperwork. Able to process government work orders with oversight from management.
  • Responsible for coordinating the shipping, delivery, and receiving of raw parts.
  • Using Oracle, receive parts into SIG. If parts are received incorrectly, this role is responsible for diagnosing and correcting the issue. This could be a missing packing slip, incorrect PO, or shipments.
  • Creation of POs up to $10,000. Verify pricing and commitments to vendors.
  • Training and basic knowledge of physically looking at a part to ensure proper condition using blueprints.
  • Look at parts to ensure proper serial numbers and that all parts are properly machined and deburred.
  • Participates in and sustains 5S Standards, may also participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) Activities.
  • Must follow all ISO procedures.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education /Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This is an entry level position not requiring any prior work experience.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license and can drive 1-ton van.
  • Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others, in English both verbally and in written form.
  • Team Participation mostly when directed.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints.
  • Communicates effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Participates in 5S workplace organization activities and maintains the area in good working order through sustainment activities.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing area where frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts, containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
