Central United Protestant Church (CUP) is looking for a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader (20 hours’ p/w). CUP is a multi-denominational Church. The church's style is casual and contemporary, and worship is a high priority. The church believes it is what the church is created to do Therefore, the church does not gather for a performance; the church gathers to worship God by exalting God's greatness and celebrating God's goodness to us in Jesus Christ.

  • Supports the mission of CUP and is willing to share life in the community of believers

Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior Pastor and Worship team to plan worship services, including preparation of the order of worship, making recommendations as needed, and selecting music.
  • Lead worship teams in weekly rehearsal and worship service.
  • Model and promote a spirit of engagement that encourages the congregation’s understanding of worship as participation.
  • Encourage the development and use of individuals’ talents
  • Work with the technical support ministry, which is responsible for controlling the sound system and video projections, recruiting and training the technical team, and purchasing and maintaining the equipment.
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer schedules for the worship teams, using the Planning Center or an online church management platform.
  • Lead in ensuring that the church is in legal compliance with music copyright laws.
  • Attend staff meetings and church-sponsored events as able.
  • Work with CUP’s Director of operations and administrative staff to provide input with respect to the finances required for worship.

As the Worship Leader at Central United Protestant Church, the candidate will have the opportunity to build and grow a thriving worship ministry. Will be responsible for inviting, guiding, and encouraging the people of the church each week to enter into an authentic worship experience using music and prayer. As the Worship Leader you must possess a passion for worship and ministry, and a love for the local church.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a personal, consistent, and growing relationship with the Lord.
  • Must be a competent instrumentalist (guitar or keys) and vocalist
  • Must be proficient in directing a band with a clear understanding of music theory
  • Must be people oriented with great communication skills for leading and training volunteers
  • Must be able to lead under pressure and time constraints with an optimistic attitude
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking, public prayer, and performing
  • Must have previous worship leading experience
  • Experience performing with backing tracks or a click track is a plus
  • Knowledge of programs such as Ableton and Pro Presenter are a plus

Duties:

  • Leading an inviting, dynamic worship experience every Sunday where people can encounter God
  • Facilitating scheduling for volunteers and weekly rehearsals
  • Recruiting, developing, and discipline a volunteer staff
  • Managing all music related needs such as chord charting, volunteer training, song selection, and overall worship culture of the church
  • Contributing creative ideas to church leadership to expand the role of worship ministry
  • Crafting worship sets that are seamless experiences with a blend of songs, prayer, Scripture and commentary
  • Helping plan special services and events such as holiday services
  • Works with staff to ensure music reflects the mission and vision of the church; pivots as needed based on direction
  • Responsible for line item budget management related to worship team, equipment, and services
  • Participates in staff meetings and planning for CUP events
  • Responsible for assisting tech team and facilitating online worship experiences
