A qualified candidate for the position of Occupational Therapist at Clinic 57291 should have at least two years of experience in the field and must hold a valid license to practice occupational therapy in the state of employment.
Job Duties:
  • Evaluation/Re-evaluation: Assess the client's functional abilities, including physical, emotional, cognitive, and sensory components to determine the need for skilled occupational therapy intervention. Consider the patient's history, context, and treatment goals when formulating a treatment plan.
  • Treatment: Aid clients in achieving their treatment plan goals through various interventions such as neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic activity, exercise, manual therapy, self-care/home management training, development of cognitive skills, sensory integration techniques, wheelchair management, and wound care. Utilize modalities like biofeedback, paraffin baths, whirlpools, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound when necessary.
  • Discharge: Ensure a safe discharge and continuity of progress by providing home exercise programs, instructing family/caregivers, and making recommendations for assistive equipment and further therapy if needed. Plan and coordinate discharge with the healthcare team, client, and family members.
  • Supervision: Oversee occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students in line with professional standards.
  • Contribution to healthcare team: Maintain effective documentation and communication with the healthcare team while upholding patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
  • Maintenance of department's integrity: Stay updated with best practices through continued education, conform to professional requirements, and contribute to the development of the occupational therapy department.
