Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist at Lehi Surgery Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our surgical services. In this dual role, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting surgical procedures as a technologist while also managing central processing duties, ensuring the proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.


Responsibilities

  • Surgical Assistance:
    • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
    • Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
    • Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
    • Handle specimens in accordance with facility protocols and ensure their proper labeling and delivery to the laboratory.
  • Central Processing Management:
    • Oversee the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment following industry standards and best practices.
    • Perform regular quality checks on equipment to ensure their proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of processed items, sterilization cycles, and equipment maintenance, adhering to regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure an adequate supply of sterile instruments and equipment at all times.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for staff and patients.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines related to surgical procedures and central processing.
    • Participate in regular training and educational programs to stay updated on the latest advancements in surgical technology and central processing techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a surgical setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center.
  • Proficient understanding of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterilization techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to help sew/close at the end of a procedure.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
  • Certification in Central Processing (CRCST) is preferred.
