Full Time, day shift in the Pharmacy.

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Assists the pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.  Pharmacy Technicians do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.


Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent computer skills

 

License/Certifications:

  • Certified pharmacy technician required (CPhT).
  • One year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of certified training program/health care related program preferred, but not required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Fills physician orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, and stock requisitions accurately.
  2. Replenishes eye medications in Surgical Eye Boxes accurately.
  3. Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.
  4. Delivers medications and supplies to Omnicell accurately per established schedule.
  5. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
  6. Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date.
  7. Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
  8. Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas accurately within specified time periods.
  9. Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques.
  10. Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
  11. Enters medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately.
  12. Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately.
  13. Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
  14. Answers the telephone, identifying self and department. Direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  15. Answers requests at the window and makes stat deliveries to patient care and Ancillary areas when requested.
  16. Organizes and prioritizes work assignments.
  17. Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations.
  18. Demonstrates good oral and written communication.
  19. Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well-organized. Keeps pharmacy equipment clean.
  20. Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly. Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
  21. Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and completes documentation as assigned.
  22. Performance demonstrates efforts to improve patient satisfaction lower costs, Improve quality, and promote safety.
  23. Understands and meets customers’ needs and expectations. The patient and Members always come first.
  24. Demonstrates the ability to address problems in a group setting using tools and techniques for identification and resolution of problems.
  25. Demonstrates the values and behaviors of the organization.
  26. Develop and oversee medication management-related systems’ databases.
  27. Identify and resolve system or application problems.
  28. Assess medication-use systems for vulnerabilities to medication errors and Implement medication-error prevention strategies.
  29. Training staff in the use of medication-related computer systems and technology.
  30. Reconciling Omnicell admissions with valid Meditech admissions.
  31. Generating Omnicell stock management reports on a regular schedule and adjusting Omnicell inventory accordingly.
  32. Recording daily performance indicators related to inventory and interface maintenance then provide info to the Director.
  33. Entering new and deleting Omnicell users as assigned by Human Resources (HR).
  34. Configuring drawers and assigning inventory for Cabinets.
  35. Assists with implementation and support for new technology.
  36. Visiting nursing units to assist with cabinet malfunctions.
  37. Accompanying Omnicell technicians during service visits.
  38. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
