Person with a desire to provide bereavement support during the 13-month period following the death of a hospice patient, through support groups and phone calls.  Hospice volunteer training is provided plus a focus on working with bereaved individuals. The Bereavement Volunteer provides emotional support by using active listening skills, provides education regarding normal grief responses, provides information regarding available community resources, and makes referrals to the Bereavement Coordinator as necessary. The Bereavement Volunteer maintains open communication with Bereavement Coordinator by reporting any area of concern, submits visit notes and hours to the Volunteer Coordinator, but is under the supervision of the Bereavement Coordinator. The Bereavement Volunteer usually volunteers 2-4 hours 1 day a week, recording accurate, timely and objective documentation on each volunteer activity, on a device supplied by Constellation Hospice.
