Job Title : Technical Content Writer (Automotive Industry)

Job Type : C2C / W2 / 1099

Experience : 5 to 15 years

Location : Woodridge, Illinois

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Information Developer or Technical Writer, with at least 2 years of writing/editing, technical illustration experience, or automotive/truck support experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex engineering concepts for various audiences.
  • Experience in project management and working in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and XML editing software (e.g., Arbortext Editor).
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-Design.
  • Familiarity with structured authoring (DITA) and CAD software (e.g., Unigraphics/NX).
  • Knowledge of automotive system theory, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical procedures.
  • Previous hands-on experience in an automotive dealership or related field.
  • Experience with Agile writing principles and project management.
  • Strong understanding of service tools and specifications for vehicle servicing.
  • Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Apply Agile principles to documentation processes and align with Agile writing practices.
  • Use MS Office tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneNote) and XML editing software (e.g., Arbortext Editor) proficiently.
  • Develop and edit content using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-Design.
  • Understand structured authoring (DITA) and navigate CAD software (e.g., Unigraphics/NX) for article and publication creation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of automotive system theory, including electronic and electrical fundamentals, mechanical procedures, and modern automotive systems.
Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.
