Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Material Handler

DIVISION: Industries

SUPERVISOR: Industry Production Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE:

To ensure the efficient handling and movement of materials within our production facility. Assume responsibility for safely loading and unloading parts trucks at the beginning and end of each shift, adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Safely and efficiently load and unload parts trucks at the start and end of each shift.
  2. Verify incoming and outgoing materials against shipment records to ensure accuracy.
  3. Organize and maintain inventory of materials within designated storage areas.
  4. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to transport materials to various production areas.
  5. Assist in the assembly and packaging of products as needed.
  6. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  7. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and report any maintenance issues.
  8. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
  10. Maintain quality standards for all production
  11. Ensure accuracy to measurement
  12. Work with staff to maintain a smooth flow of production.
  13. Assist with timestudies and set up jobs
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the production team.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:

  1. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials.
  3. Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Basic math and communication skills.
  6. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Proven experience in a production or warehouse environment preferred.
  3. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  4. Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
