- A minimum of (3) year of previous experience in retail floral management is required.
- Completion of ongoing training and development.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Responsible for the enhancement and growth of the Floral Department business outlined below.
- Growth mindset for the department and company with the customer as the main focus.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership skills to direct and motivate others.
- Professional in all aspects of communication and interaction with the Floral Manager, department team, and all store teammates. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Assist Stores in the absence of the Floral Manager with all aspects of the Managers responsibility.
- Communicate to the Floral Director any employee relations issues and, if needed, effectively work with the Floral Director, Floral Manager, Store Management and Human Resource team to resolve issues.
- Consult with Store Manager and Store Director any needs that the department might have and develop a plan of action with the Floral Director to support the department and team. Communicate the said plan of action to Store Manager, Store Director, Floral Director and Floral Manager.
- Assist Floral Director with department Audits monthly when in the stores. Communicate to the Store Manager, Store Director, Floral Director and Floral Manager any areas of concern or areas that need a plan of action.
- Work with all stores to ensure they have the product they might need and be willing to transport product from one location to another as needed.
- Attend ad meetings with Floral Director, and in their absence attend alone and report to the Floral Director.
- Offer assistance to the Floral Catering position as needed.
- Work with the Floral Director to create new items, distributions, weekly specials, and innovations to help promote sales growth.
- During visits remove any damaged, un-saleable or returnable product from shelves and use this as a training tool to develop the department team, advising of standards and expectations.
- Competition walks bi-weekly with photos and notes of interest to the Floral Director.
- Work with the Floral Director to ensure all new employees receive orientation and training as needed.
- Ensure the teams are able to operate, clean and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
- Ensure the teams meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results.
- Ensure the teams actively work to keep the work area and department as a whole clean and safe for customers and coworkers.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and interpersonal skills necessary for positive team interactions across the Floral Department and store.
- Demonstrates the basic math and reading skills required for the position.
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
- Non-Essential Job Functions
- Anticipate and prepare weekly schedule for the Floral Director
- Send Floral Director weekly recap notes to include what was done at each store that day, any items that need a Plan of Action, any items of interest mentioned above, with pictures of outstanding displays or items that other stores could benefit from.
- Assist Floral Director with promoting sales by suggesting additional products or services.
- Support your company by completing additional tasks identified by the Floral Director, as necessary, within our stores or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary.
- Turn in vehicle mileage for the previous month to the Floral Director.
- Attend industry-specific shows or events as identified by the Floral Director.
- Reaching overhead with both arms, twisting at the waist and lifting objects with both hands weighing up to 2 lbs.
- Pushing and pulling grocery items to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 20 lbs.
- Standing and walking for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces.
- Repeatedly lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level.
- Able to work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers.
- Climbing a ladder, possibly up to 5ft.
