Our client is currently looking for a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator with experience estimating highway, county, and city projects. This person will be heavily involved in their alternative delivery as well as hard bid estimating efforts in California and Colorado.

This person will report to the Chief Estimator and will coordinate with the Colorado Area Manager on which projects to pursue. The ideal candidate would have experience estimating roadway, underground, precast bridges, and other concrete structures. The estimating team can teach or supplement in areas where a candidate is less experienced. The ideal candidate knows DOT specs, can think outside the box, understands multi-staged construction projects, is detail-oriented, and has experience in heavy civil construction. Strong relationships with local subcontractors and material suppliers are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full estimating services on large, complex heavy civil construction projects.
  • Prepare project estimates to ensure all factors are properly considered, priced, and included in the estimate summary.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations.
  • Conduct constructability studies.
  • Research services for methods, costs, and construction techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years of estimating.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Experience with HCSS/HeavyBid.
  • Experience with alternative delivery projects such as Design-Build, CMGC, and CMAR.
