Job Description:

St. Patrick Catholic School is accepting applications for a part time Art Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

As an Elementary School Art Teacher at Saint Patrick School, you will play a vital role in fostering creativity and artistic expression among our students. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and implementing art curriculum, instructing students in various art techniques and mediums, and cultivating an appreciation for art within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design engaging and age-appropriate art curriculum aligned with Archdiocesan guidelines, considering the developmental stages of elementary students.

Instruction: Conduct art classes, providing instruction in fundamental art principles such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Demonstration: Demonstrate techniques and provide step-by-step guidance to help students understand and apply artistic concepts effectively.

Creativity Encouragement: Foster creativity and imagination by encouraging students to explore various artistic styles, themes, and ideas. Create a supportive environment that allows students to express themselves freely through art.

Art History and Appreciation: Introduce students to art history and expose them to renowned artists and their works.

Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning. Establish and enforce behavioral expectations while promoting respect and collaboration among students.

Assessment and Feedback: Assess student artwork and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and techniques. Keep detailed records of student progress and participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.

Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and parents to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and committees as required.

Resource Management: Manage art supplies, equipment, and facilities efficiently, ensuring that materials are well-stocked and maintained. Develop and adhere to a budget for purchasing art materials and resources.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

State teaching certification/licensure in Elementary Education or Art Education.

Prior experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting.

Strong artistic skills and proficiency in various art mediums and techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young learners.

Patience, creativity, and a passion for nurturing the artistic development of children.
