Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Controller or Sr. Accountant. The Controller or Sr. Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our company, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. This role requires a hands-on professional with a deep understanding of the construction industry and a proven ability to navigate its unique financial challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Manage the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits and tax filings.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business planning and decision-making.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Lead the implementation of financial systems and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance roles, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and compliance.
- Previous experience in the construction industry or a related field is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
