Position Overview:
The Range Safety Officer (RSO) plays a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of the shooting range. They are responsible for enforcing all safety protocols and procedures, maintaining a secure and orderly environment, and providing excellent customer service to range guests. The RSO must possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and composed in potentially high-stress situations.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Enforce Safe Firearm Handling: Monitor all range activity to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations. Provide guidance and instruction on safe firearm handling techniques as needed.


  2. Execute Range Safety Processes: Implement and uphold all established range safety protocols and procedures. Continuously assess and address any potential safety hazards or concerns.


  3. Maintain Vigilance: Remain alert and attentive at all times while on duty, maintaining a strong focus on safety. Quickly identify and respond to any unsafe behavior or situations.


  4. Provide Customer Service: Offer friendly and knowledgeable assistance to range guests, including answering questions, providing assistance, and addressing concerns in a professional manner.


  5. Ensure Cleanliness and make repairs: Regularly inspect and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the range facilities, including shooting lanes, equipment, and common areas while wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


  6. Perform Range Briefings: Deliver clear and comprehensive safety briefings to all range users, ensuring that they understand and adhere to all safety rules and procedures.


  7. Coordinate Range: Manage lane assignments with the front sales associates to optimize efficiency and ensure a smooth flow of operations.


  8. Respond to Emergencies: Take immediate action to address any emergencies or incidents that occur on the range, including administering first aid and contacting emergency services as needed.


  9. Document Incidents: Accurately record any safety violations, incidents, or accidents that occur on the range, and follow established reporting procedures.


  10. Continuous Training and Development: Stay current on industry best practices, safety standards, and regulations related to firearms and shooting range operations. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as required.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Range Safety Officer or similar role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of firearms safety principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass background check and any required pre-employment screenings including but not limite to a drug test.
  • Certification as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) may be required or preferred. Assistance in obataining a certification available.
