Sabino Deckhand

Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking Sabino deckhands for our 2024 season. Deckhands assist in general shipboard duties including cleaning, daily maintenance, line handling, as well as delivering a harbor tour while underway to Museum visitors. Deckhands will also assist the captain in ensuring the safety of the vessel and passengers while underway. Sabino does several 30min trips and two 90min trips, daily, May through early October.

• Ability to give a tour of the waterfront to Museum visitors
• Maintain the highest level of professionalism and customer service
• Abide by all training and safety protocols
• Highly attentive to vessel presentation
• Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in an upbeat and professional manner
• Ability to lift moderately heavy loads
• Assist passengers boarding and disembarking vessel as needed
• Must be able to access boats, floats, and bilges
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic
• Ability to work weekend and evening hours
• Ability to work outside in hot, cold, wet, and physically demanding conditions

Preferred:

• Boating experience and basic seamanship skills
• Knowledge of Mystic Seaport Museum and the Mystic River

Must be at least 18 years old.

Pre-employment USCG drug test and enrollment in the Museum's random pool is mandatory.
