JOB SUMMARY:

As a Youth Work Readiness Instructor, you will work closely with youth ages 14-24, helping them gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to thrive in the workplace. You will develop and deliver engaging workshops and training sessions on topics such as resume writing, job search strategies, interviewing techniques, workplace communication, and professional etiquette. You will also provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to support participants in achieving their career goals.


CCAP’s Learn to Earn Employment, Training, and Education Programs assist the youth of Rhode Island ages 14 – 24 through free education, training programs, Work Readiness and Job Placement assistance. We provide a full range of services to youth enrolled in school and out of school. All enrollees are connected with a case manager to assist them in their education or employment goals throughout the program.


WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

Full-time, 35 hours per week, some evening hours may be required; possible four-day work week option; May be required to work at any CCAP location.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on job readiness skills, customer service, financial literacy, digital literacy and college and career pathways for groups of 2-40 students; one-on-one sessions when needed.
  • Teach essential skills such as resume writing, job search strategies, interviewing techniques, workplace communication, and professional etiquette.
  • Give assignments to first-time and experienced job seekers attending workshops; utilize Google Classroom to give assignments and track assignment submission; track attendance and follow up with Case Management staff on participant progress..
  • Edit and proofread resumes, cover letters, reference sheets and other relevant materials
  • Create, update and share calendar of classes; Create online meetings and send invitation to participants in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate participants' progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to develop and implement comprehensive work readiness programs.
  • Assist participants in job placement and provide ongoing support during their employment journey.
Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in youth services, education, human relations, psychology, social work or related field
  • Knowledge of or experience in job development, human resources or employer relations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google Platforms, including Excel and Classroom
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations

PHYSICAL EFFORT / ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment will change frequently as it is directed by client homes. The individual will have a comfortable workspace at 311 Doric Avenue with a desk, chair, telephone, computer, etc. You may be exposed to blood borne pathogens, respiratory diseases and other infectious diseases, and other biohazardous material requiring universal standard precautions. This position requires the individual to have a current unrestricted license to drive, documented auto insurance and the individual must be willing to work in client’s homes and the community.
