CMI is expanding, and we're looking for a Health and Safety Associate to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions (e.g., ladders, stormwater outfalls, chemical storage).
- Develop and maintain EHS documents, including JSAs, LOTO, Confined Space, and Machine Guarding assessments.
- Ensure safe working behaviors, such as proper PPE usage and LOTO execution.
- Provide training on safety protocols, emergency response, and environmental awareness.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, and create reports with preventive recommendations.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
- Support the behavior-based safety program through observations, data collection, and employee interaction.
Requirements and Experience:
- 5 plus years working as a safety trainer and consultant
- Experience training a wide variety of safety courses
- Ability to create safety presentations
- Engaging and personable presenter
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience writing work place risk assessments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Education and Credentials
- Bachelors degree in a Health and Safety discipline
- Professional credentials such as ASP, SMS, OHST or CHST
- OSHA 501
- First Aid CPR Instructor
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to climb a ladder.
- Ability to stoop, crawl and bend
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
Other Requirements:
- Background check and potential drug screening required for the position
- Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands
- Residence within a reasonable commuting distance
