1.0 Position Summary
Operates as a dispatcher for La Porte division.
2.0 Reporting
Reports to La Porte Terminal Manager
HR FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
3.0 Essential Functions, Job Duties, and Responsibilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills with ability to resolve issues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of geographical of the surrounding areas
- Effectively build relationships with customers and drivers
- Monitor’s driver hours to ensure they are being dispatch efficiently.
- Monitor’s maintenance reports, quarterly inspections, etc. and notifies driver when due.
- Ensure all drivers are following all Dot regulations, must know Dot regulations.
- Increase revenue daily by ensuring there is enough work by interacting with CSR.
- Pre-dispatch driver daily to ensure driver is busy moving freight.
- Help cover other divisions as needed and performs all other duties or projects as assigned.
- Daily team building skills.
- Main job is to make sure that revenue is being produced daily.
- Must be able to work flexible hours could be any time from 7am to 18:00, might have to work weekends on last minute notice.
- Enters information into several computer programs, to include: TMW, Outlook.
- Maximizes driver potential by balancing miles, money, hours, and lanes for each assigned driver.
- Monitors last free day and return dates to avoid chargebacks to company and/or customer.
- Bilingual a plus
4.0 Education and Experience Requirements
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5.0 Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to resolve customer/driver issues quickly and creatively to improve customer/driver satisfaction.
- Familiarity with Company services and trucking operations
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Good computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW
6.0 Work Conditions, Physical and/or Mental Requirements
- Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, and hearing.
- Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- 80% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer.
- Employee is frequently required to stand, walk (or otherwise be mobile).
- Employee is frequently required to lift and carry a minimum of 15 pounds.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise.
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Minimal physical effort is required. Lifting and carrying requirements of up to 15 pounds. Occasional or frequent ability to move boxes from one location to another.
