The Safety Representative is responsible for ensuring that workplace safety regulations and procedures are consistently followed to protect the health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors. This role involves identifying potential hazards, implementing safety measures, conducting safety training, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Inspections & Audits:
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Document findings from safety audits and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Training & Education:
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees (e.g., hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, emergency response).
  • Maintain training records and ensure all employees have received necessary certifications.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports and maintain OSHA logs.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay up to date with OSHA and other safety regulations and ensure the workplace complies with all applicable laws.
  • Coordinate and assist with external safety audits or inspections by regulatory agencies.
Safety Equipment & PPE Management:
  • Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment and PPE.
  • Evaluate and recommend safety equipment for various job tasks.
Emergency Preparedness:
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures.
  • Coordinate regular emergency drills and ensure all staff is aware of emergency procedures.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with management, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety.
  • Participate in safety meetings and provide regular updates to the leadership team on safety performance and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in Industrial, Production, or Manufacturing industry.Certifications: OSHA 10 CertificationKnowledge & Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, training programs, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in industrial, construction, or outdoor environments.
  • Regular exposure to potential hazards, requiring the use of PPE.
