About the opportunity?
  • Complete trainings and demonstrate competency in the use of testing equipment, mathematical calculations, and basic statistics.
  • Perform QC tests on incoming packaging materials, raw materials, and in-process / finished products throughout all producing plants.
  • Complete testing on Quarry, Rotary Kiln, Sizing Plant, Specialties (DU/MU), Engineered Ceramics, Mag Packaging, Minerals, and Brick Plant Products to understand product material groups and conduct plant audits.
  • Cut finished products for testing.
  • Routinely audit all producing plants identifying opportunities for improvements in safety, quality, and production.
  • Complete plant certificates of analysis which is a document sent to the customers detailing the results yielded for their products.
  • Maintain and ensure all plant equipment is calibrated prior to due date.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment.
  • Report any near miss, damage, safety concerns, or injury utilizing the safety tracking system.
  • Follow all safety procedures and lockout tagout as required.
  • Maintain quality standards of the product produced.
About you:
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Fine motor skills to cut and grind samples into 1-inch cubes.
  • Mechanical ability as well as strong analytical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Computer knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail, SAP and MII.
  • Ability to identify, observe, and assess materials and equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge of scrap guidelines.
  • Completion of testing and training is required for each level technician.
  • Strong knowledge of all products and materials tested.
  • Job requires standing, lifting, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; and wearing all personal protective equipment required to do the job (including hard hat, bump cap, foam sealed safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves).
  • Ability to work in a variety of working conditions including, but not limited to heat, cold, dust, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces.
