Murray’s Cheese is seeking a part-time Porter to support our retail location on Bleecker Street As an ideal candidate, you enjoy doing a bit of everything. It’s your job to keep our facility running smoothly (and cleanly) to keep us in compliance with Department of Health standards in NYC and create a great experience for our guests.

• Exact: You’re super precise Everything you do is with great accuracy and detail. You enjoy when everything is neat, clean, and well-maintained; it’s in your nature
• Proactive: You don’t wait for someone to tell you to do something. You are constantly are seeking out work to do throughout the day, staying busy and asking for help when necessary.

What You Do

• Clean: You ensure cleanliness of all areas of our space including but not limited to freezers, refrigerators, offices, bathrooms, and floors.
• Maintain: You regularly check that equipment is running smoothly and perform light maintenance. Whether it’s a cart with a squeaky wheel or a leaky pipe, you can fix these issues quite quickly and efficiently.

What We Need From You

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for at least 8 hours in a shift, and walk up/down stairs regularly
• Experience and understanding of cleanliness in a food service business
• Patience and the ability to stay positive under pressure
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability
• High school diploma or equivalent
• NYC Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe Certification preferred
