Position: Volunteer Telemedicine Oncologist

Job Summary:
Island Sisters Care Foundation is seeking a compassionate and skilled Volunteer Telemedicine Oncologist to join our team remotely. As a Volunteer Telemedicine Oncologist, you will play a pivotal role in extending specialized oncology care and expertise to cancer patients in Fiji, where access to oncological services may be limited. Through telemedicine consultations, you will contribute significantly to improving health outcomes and making a positive impact on the lives of cancer patients in the region.

Responsibilities:
1. Conduct telemedicine consultations with cancer patients in Fiji, providing expert guidance and recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
2. Collaborate with local medical teams in Fiji to ensure seamless integration of telemedicine services and continuity of patient care.
3. Review and interpret medical records, diagnostic test results, and imaging studies to aid in accurate assessments and treatment planning.
4. Offer second opinions on complex cancer cases and provide recommendations for potential alternative treatments, if applicable.
5. Advise on palliative care and pain management strategies to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients.
6. Participate in virtual tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary team meetings with local healthcare professionals to discuss challenging cases and devise comprehensive treatment strategies.
7. Support patient education initiatives by providing relevant information on cancer prevention, early detection, and lifestyle modifications.
8. Keep abreast of the latest advancements and research in oncology to offer the most up-to-date and evidence-based recommendations.
9. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant medical ethics and privacy regulations.

Requirements:
1. Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
2. Board-certified in Oncology in the United States, Canada, Philippines, or Australia.
3. Valid and unrestricted medical license in the United States, Canada, Philippines, or Australia.
4. Proven experience and expertise in diagnosing and treating various cancer types.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and local medical teams through telemedicine platforms.
6. Ability to adapt to different healthcare settings and cultural sensitivities.
7. Reliable internet connection and access to telemedicine technology for remote consultations.
8. Availability to commit to a flexible volunteer schedule based on patient needs and time zone differences.

Duration and Compensation:
This is a volunteer position with Island Sisters Care Foundation. While the role is unpaid, it offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of cancer patients in Fiji. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in telemedicine, cross-cultural collaboration, and global health initiatives.
