Position Overview

The part-time custodian will maintain cleanliness of our administration areas and perimeter of the building. The external and internal appearance of our building reflects on our Company image. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building cleanliness and upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in this position.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours a week; Monday - Friday during office hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sanitizes and cleans common areas (i.e., offices, bathrooms, lobby, break rooms, offices, front entrance, etc.)
  • Maintain premises by removing litter and rubbish from main common areas and outside front entrance walkways and flowerbeds, waters plants, cleans windows
  • Sweep, vacuum and mop floors, take out trash, tidy furniture and dust surfaces
  • Monitors, cleans, and sanitizes restroom mirrors, sinks and toilets
  • Restocks disposables in restrooms and breakroom (e.g., soap, toilet paper, paper towels, plates, cups, forks, etc.)
  • Assist in inventory management of janitorial supplies
  • Responds to any spills or other cleaning crises
  • When applicable, place safety hazard signs out (ex. wet floor warning)
  • Prepare conference rooms before and after meetings
  • Punctual and regular attendance
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or similar role
  • Commitment to safety rules
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
  • Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness with good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects etc.)
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma is preferred but not required
  • Safety and OSHA training required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and moving mechanical parts. . The noise level in the work environment is equally moderate to loud.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
