Position Summary

The Control Room Operator for Production will be responsible for monitoring, controlling and optimizing the Production system consisting of, but not limited to, tank levels and oil production. This position will serve as a high level coordinator between Midstream, Marketing, and Water to ensure production is delivered safely within compliance as scheduled and meets specification through reliable operation of the Production system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide everyday (24/7) remote oil system monitoring and troubleshooting, production coordination, security surveillance, and emergency response capability.
  • Monitor production pad tank levels, evaluate oil production, and work with the Water group and/or other trucking companies to dispatch and schedule trucks.
  • Act as the field’s central point of contact between Water, Midstream, and Marketing in order to promote better communications, decision making, and teamwork. Communicate scheduled and un-scheduled well downtime.
  • Act as the field’s central point Production of contact with emergency service first responders. Dispatch contract and Company personnel as required.
  • Document operational parameters and conduct daily reporting and communication requirements.
  • Utilize software and SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) systems to analyze data trends to anticipate abnormal conditions, identify problems or areas of concern, and report to supervisors.
  • Provide additional day, night and weekend response to support situations of increased workload and fill-in operator coverage.
  • Work with Production Operations and Engineering teams to optimize production and improve job planning and support communications.
  • Properly document and/or report field incidents or accidents immediately.
  • Perform incident investigations on process upsets by trending data, research alarm event logs, etc. to prevent reoccurrence before and during upset conditions.
  • Oversee the check in and check out log for operations.
  • Timely coordinate with the various contractors regarding the maintenance of roads in preparation of weather.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with other departments, third (3rd) party service providers, as well as other Control Room Operators.
  • Complete training to understand and comply with applicable Federal and State Regulatory Agency reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Available for on-call rotation and responsibilities on weekends and holidays for emergencies during off hours, as needed.
  • Perform all work in a safe and professional manner, in accordance with Company and Industry standards and regulations.
  • Complete required Incident Command System (ICS) training and participate in drills as needed.
  • Perform other duties upon request.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Licensure

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) years of related oil & gas experience.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.

Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent military and/or technical training.
  • Control Room Operator experience in oil and gas production facilities control.
  • Experience with Rockwell SCADA and data analytics.

  • Possess understanding of well pad production systems.
  • Able to frequently prioritize and multi-task on a day to day basis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Excel, Word, etc. and use and operation of standard office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and associated supporting equipment.
  • Ability to identify operational anomalies related to production equipment and evaluate potential solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Job is performed in an office setting with extended exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee will have minimal requirements to lift, push, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel may be required to other locations
  • Minimal travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximately 10%.
