SUMMARY

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shipping and Receiving Manager to oversee all aspects of our chemical logistics operations. You will be responsible for leading a team to ensure the timely, accurate, and safe receipt, storage, and shipment of all chemical products. This role demands a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of chemical safety regulations and a commitment to following strict protocols.
  • Aqua Metals is the only company that has developed a commercially proven, sustainable, closed-loop metal recycling process, and Aqua Metals is applying its commercialized clean, water-based recycling technology principles to develop the cleanest and most cost-efficient recycling solution for lithium-ion batteries. Our technology will produce higher quality products at a lower operating cost without the damaging effects of furnaces, chemical waste streams, and greenhouse emissions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and lead a team of shipping and receiving personnel, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and implement efficient procedures for receiving, storing, and shipping chemical products, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee the safe loading and unloading of chemical shipments, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including inventory control.
  • Conduct regular inspections of storage facilities and shipping containers to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective shipping solutions while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and other departments to ensure smooth logistics flow and meet customer demands.
  • Stay informed of updates to relevant regulations and industry best practices for chemical shipping and receiving.
  • Manage and maintain shipping and receiving equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensure accurate inventory cycle counts
  • Develops, maintains, and publishes area KPIs
  • Address any discrepancies or issues with shipments in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within a shipping and receiving department, preferably within the chemical industry.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 certified
  • BS/BA in Logistics or Business preferred
  • ASCM / APICS Certifications preferred
  • Proven understanding of chemical safety regulations (DOT, OSHA) and a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of logistics principles and best practices for hazardous materials handling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address logistical challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and warehouse management software (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
