  • Structural design of steel buildings applying established engineering practices, model building codes, and company standards
  • Design projects large and small, including hangars, schools, gymnasiums, retail centers, churches, sports arenas, and manufacturing facilities throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America
  • Work in a team environment with estimating, sales, and drafting to define, clarify, and process projects to meet customers' needs on individual projects
  • Review project plans, specifications and building code requirements
  • Convey design information to drafting, using written and verbal communication
  • Assist sales, project managers, architects, and builders to determine project requirements and proper utilization of Behlen systems to meet customer needs
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design
  • Work directly under licensed engineers toward licensure
QUALIFICATIONS:Entry Level
  • B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in low rise building design
  • EIT certification or willing to sit for the exam
  • Familiarity with AISC specifications
  • Familiarity with AISI specifications, ASCE-7 standard, and model building codes is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
Senior Level
  • B. S. Degree (Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering)
  • 5+ years of experience in low rise metal building design
  • P. E. Registration
  • Proficiency with AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, and model building codes
  • Experience with MBS, RISA, & Microsoft office
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
