Overview: The Horticulturist role involves working closely with clients to understand their vision and translating it into beautiful and sustainable outdoor spaces. The Horticulturist ensures the health and aesthetic appeal of plants and landscapes through expert knowledge of horticulture practices, plant species, and soil management. This position requires regular site visits, client consultations, and collaboration with the landscaping team to ensure that all horticultural aspects of projects are executed to the highest standards.
Skill set and educational requirements:
- Minimum five years of experience in horticulture, landscape design, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Architecture, or related field
- Valid driver’s license and must be insurable on the company's insurance policy
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in MS office suite and Google suite
- Experienced with utilizing CRM software
- Strong knowledge of plant species, landscape maintenance, and pest management
- Passionate about horticulture and landscape design
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong client relationships
- Creative and innovative mindset with a focus on sustainability
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on plant selection, landscape design, and maintenance practices.
- Develop and present detailed landscape plans and proposals.
- Create aesthetically pleasing and sustainable landscape designs that meet client specifications.
- Select appropriate plant species based on climate, soil conditions, and client preferences.
- Plan and oversee the installation of plants, trees, shrubs, and other landscape elements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor the health and growth of plants.
- Identify and resolve any horticultural issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Ensure landscapes are maintained according to best practices and client standards.
- Work closely with the landscaping team to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on horticultural practices.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to ensure their satisfaction with the landscape.
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues promptly.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities, attending workshops and seminars.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance the beauty and sustainability of landscapes.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
