Chestnut Hill, United States WS Development Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Construction Project Manager will ensure the successful transition of each project from the development phase to the project completion. The Project Manager will be responsible for the oversight of assigned construction projects and ensure that the design and development of plans meet company and Tenant requirements.

This position will oversee day to day activities of contractors, architects, consultants, and engineers and direct those activities to meet project schedules. In addition to project oversight, the Construction Project Manager will work with Development and Accounting on budget preparation, cost control and will manage projects within the approved project budget. At the conclusion of each project, the Project Manager will be required to partner with the Operations team to successfully transition each project into an operating business.

What to expect

This position will be responsible managing the entire construction process from concept, through pre-construction and design, and ultimately managing the general contractor building the project in the field. This includes creating budgets and schedules, completing constructability and design reviews, managing outside contractors and design consultants, communicating with towns and tenants, and working alongside internal departments (Leasing, Development, Design Studio, Operations) to help support their efforts of the development process.

Immediate Opportunity/Initial Success

A successful candidate will be able to manage several projects in different stages of construction, ranging in size. Some projects will be in the design/preconstruction phase, and others in the active construction phase. The candidate will make an immediate impact and bring extensive knowledge and experience in managing a project through different phases.

The Construction Project Manager must have the ability to create, develop, and manage construction schedules and construction estimates for the projects they are assigned and will identify and manage risk at an early stage. The Construction Project Manager will work through design and constructability issues and best practices with the design team, consultants, and contractors and will be expected to work in a collaborative team environment with both internal and external stakeholders.

Potential for Growth/Longer Term Success

There is an opportunity for this position to grow into a leadership role within the team as well as the ability to train and mentors to less experienced staff. Construction Project Managers who continue to be successful will be provided the opportunity to work on more complex and challenging projects over time.

Requirements

Experience: We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of 6-8+ years of experience. Ideal candidates will be thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of construction management and will have previously managed projects for a general contractor or developer. Experience creating construction estimates and project schedules required. We are looking for Project Managers that have demonstrated the ability to deliver quality work and consistently meet project deadlines.

Passion: Candidates who are passionate about the industry, go the “extra” mile, constantly ask questions and think outside the box for solutions to complex construction challenges.

Communication: Candidates who are strong communicators and who can interact with internal/external clients and effectively communicate in challenging situations, while simultaneously being able to influence others.

Team Player: WS Development is a vertically integrated firm, and the Construction Project Manager will work hand-in hand with Development, Leasing, Design Studio, Accounting and Operations through various phases of each project. We are looking for candidates who thrive working in a team-oriented environment and will work collaboratively to deliver solutions.
