Laboratory Technician

Augusta, United States S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $18.50 per hour Entry Level

We are currently accepting applications for a Laboratory Technician to be based at our office in Sidney, Maine. As a Laboratory Technician you will work mostly in the lab performing construction materials testing on samples of soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and other materials associated with a variety of construction projects, and reporting the results. You’ll also help maintain and organize the laboratory. You will typically work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work opportunities based on project needs.

To thrive in this role you won't need prior experience to learn and be successful - we will train you and pay you while you learn. Familiarity with Microsoft excel and prior experience working in a lab environment is helpful for someone entering this position but is not required. Most days you will conduct a variety of laboratory tests. You will read, learn about, and apply written testing standards.

You will work with other laboratory and field technicians, interns and managers. The work can be physical at times: you will lift and carry samples and equipment. You may drive to pick up samples at a job site or perform materials testing in the field, however, this would be on an occasional and as-needed basis. We do require a high school diploma or equivalent, and to perform this job you will need to do some basic math and write or type your observations and test results.  Safely conducting yourself and the equipment we entrust to you is a must.

We provide opportunities for extensive training and job experience to develop your skills and expertise and support your professional development to help you earn industry specific certifications. We also offer opportunities to fuel your growth and advancement in the company including an internal leadership development program, Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders Program.  We are a hardworking group with a passion for construction whose focus is to provide high quality services to our clients while helping each other reach our goals.

Interested?  Fill out the application, and upload your resume - and don't forget to include a cover letter to show us your writing skills and tell us why you are  a good candidate to be our next team member

A few things to keep in mind - you must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer, and we are not able to sponsor employment Visas at this time.
