Overview:
WiredPeople is seeking to hire a Data Abstractor to help support the Florida Violent Death Reporting System in Florida. The Data Abstractor will work directly within our current team of 3 Data Abstractor's within the FLVDRS team. This position will be full-time, up to 40 hours a week and our ideal candidate must be willing to work onsite in Tallahassee, Florida.
Essential Functions:
- Each Data Abstractor must complete database registration and identity proofing processes within five business days of the initiated database access request in order to begin data abstraction promptly.
- Abstract, edit, and enter violent death case information into the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) web-based data collection system, with a narrative and marking circumstances when applicable, with 95% accuracy, throughout the purchase order term.
- Report progress and/or barriers encountered directly to the Department Program Manager.
- Each Data Abstractor must submit a weekly narrative detailing the number of hours worked and the number of cases abstracted to the Program Manager by Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST).
- Assist program staff in maintaining real-time tracking sheets to document abstracted records.
- Ensure the full-time Data Abstractor abstracts an average of at least 35 cases per week.
- Ensure each Data Abstractor participates in monthly Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) NVDRS workgroup calls. Use monthly coding calls to receive any necessary feedback or technical assistance on coding and case abstraction. Take notes during the call and submit a brief summary of notes to the Program Manager by close of business on the day of the call.
- Attend and actively participate in bi-weekly program staff meetings via Teams.
Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to perform data entry from a variety of violent death data sources with a high degree of accuracy.
- Must have the ability to review reports, comprehend complex information, synthesize information, and write brief narrative summaries of reports.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly, accurately, and completely.
- Must possess capacity to effectively prioritize work, meet project deadlines, plan, organize, and coordinate assignments.
- Must possess the ability to organize data and information into logical formats for presentations, reports, documents, publications, and other written materials.
