ABOUT THE ROLE:

Under general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and in accordance with standard department procedures, prepare and distribute patient medications.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Read and interpret physician orders and transcribe same into pharmacy system
  • Adjudicate third party claims
  • Answer telephones, responding to questions and requests
  • Operate point-of-sale system, maintaining accurate drawer and completing deposits
  • Order and receive medications to maintain appropriate inventory
  • Deliver medications to patients
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for medications

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous pharmacy technician and or prior healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Technician Certification or equivalent must be completed within 18 months of employment
  • Ability to interpret and perform basic mathematical computations
