Essential Duties% of Performance

Performs assigned duties necessary to support the Library Department with customer service, process and procedures, and clerical support. Duties included are, but not limited to: shelving and organizing literature; conducting circulation borrowing, return procedures, creating new accounts; issuing library cards; and customer and vendor interaction (e.g. answering questions, phones, emails, etc.). Responsible for cash management procedures, such as processing of fines, refunds, room rentals, reconciling cash drawer, running credit card report, and securing monies in the safe. May assist with collection maintenance and procurement. 90%

Assists in the training of volunteers.5%

Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesRequired knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a high school diploma or GED, and one (1) to three (3) years of work related experience in Library Services, teaching or related field is required. Koha experience is preferred.Must possess good oral and written communication skills.Must possess excellent customer services skills.Must be able to sort and file.Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner, and have the ability to successfully work with all age groups and backgrounds and needs.Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Ability to type, read and write letters, emails, etc.Ability to learn the City’s integrated Library software program/system.Must posses strong organization skills and have the ability to work in a fast paced work environment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City and other public employees, public officials, contractors, consultants, vendors, and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver license. Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
