The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for an assigned caseload of mortgage loans under the management of Default Servicing due to Bankruptcy Case Filing. Responsibility includes but is not limited to ensuring proper adherence to investors and insurers’ timeframes and policies & procedures to minimize risk, limit loan related expenses, and to preserve and protect collateral. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage pipeline of Active Bankruptcy loans from each case filing through final closing case or any additional requirements from Servbank. Documenting all loan-level efforts into the Bankruptcy Workstations in MSP.
  • Review and provide designated counsel all documentation necessary to effectively manage the bankruptcy process to ensure all accounts are being managed according to investor and insurer timelines.
  • Coordinates with our attorneys, defaulted borrowers' attorneys and/or trustees to maximize efficiency and timeliness of resolutions through completed bankruptcy plans, coordinating the filing of motions for relief, etc.
  • Prepares relevant legal documents for execution by management, including Proofs of Claim, affidavits, etc.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all bankruptcy requirements of all investors and insurers, as well as state and federal guideline updates. Attends training sessions as required.
  • Review incoming expense invoices for accuracy and compliance with the established fees schedules of the Investors and/or Insurers.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by Default Management.
Requirements:

Position Qualifications

  • 5 Years of working knowledge of the bankruptcy processes and workflows
  • Understanding of the mortgage servicing process and industry.
  • Knowledge of CHFA/FHA, GNMA, FNMA, FHLMC, MI and various other investor/insurer bankruptcy requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word processing and spreadsheets, data entry, PC input, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Goal-oriented


Education

  • High School diploma and/or some college
  • Combination of education and experience in Collection call center/customer service/mortgage servicing environment
  • Paralegal experience is a plus
