The Admin Assistant position is a critical piece of the puzzle at API International. This person helps support the Estimator and Estimating Department by executing administrative functions relating to all aspects of assigned work, estimating, and Machine Shop activities. The Admin Assistant will become familiar with industry and API-specific terminology, various materials, and machining operations, and will need to be able to communicate effectively with Sales and Operations personnel.


A typical day:

  • Assist in generating timely quotes for materials, machining, and outside services based on customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Machine Shop, Shop Scheduler, Engineering, and other teams to gather necessary information for accurate quotes.
  • Assist in maintaining and tracking quote-related metrics.
  • Handle paperwork related to Machine Shop operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Estimating team.

The ideal candidate requires the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel.
  • Previous experience in an office or customer service role preferred.
  • Ability to grasp basic mathematical concepts.

We highly prefer the following:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Internship or coursework in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings.
