The Autism & Behavior Services Department at Easterseals Crossroads, a non-profit organization that provides disability services in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, invites applications for a full-time, one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology, beginning Summer/Fall 2024. The Fellowship provides training and supervision primarily in psychological assessment with an emphasis on autism spectrum disorders in children and adolescents.

Easterseals Crossroads is a multidisciplinary organization that provides services for individuals with a wide variety of disabilities. The Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the department of Autism and Behavior Services, which is a small, multidisciplinary outpatient behavioral health clinic. Services provided in the department include case management services, resource facilitation, therapy, and diagnostic evaluations, and other services provided within the organization include speech-language, occupational, and physical therapies.

The primary role of the Postdoctoral Fellow will be in the Autism Diagnostic Clinic, where they will perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations using gold standard assessment techniques. Individuals referred to our department for this service have a primary presenting concern related to autism spectrum disorder, but they often meet criteria for other diagnoses including intellectual disabilities, ADHD, oppositional-defiant disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and more. Referred families are from a variety of socioeconomic, religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

If desired, the Postdoctoral Fellow will also have the option to provide therapy services, primarily to children and/or teens with autism spectrum disorder and their families. Opportunities to consult with local schools or participate in community outreach events also may be available.

Qualifications:

-Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from an APA-accredited program in clinical or school psychology

-Successful completion of an internship (APA-accredited preferred)

-Highly developed competency in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests, including the ADOS-2 and common cognitive ability assessment tools

-Highly developed communication skills

-Clinical interviewing skills

-Diagnostic evaluation report writing skills

-Skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team

Training Experiences/Responsibilities:

-Conduct psychological evaluations, including intake interviews, psychological assessment or testing, and interactive feedback sessions, for a variety of presenting concerns with a focus on autism spectrum disorders in children and adolescents. The Fellowship is primarily an assessment role, and this should be the fellow’s main area of interest for training and experience.

-As an optional secondary role, provide children and families with intervention services, such as parent education and training, social skills groups, or psychotherapy. The fellow may pursue opportunities in this area appropriate to their training, interests, and the needs of the community we serve at Easterseals Crossroads.

The Fellowship fulfills the postdoctoral supervision requirements for psychology licensure in the state of Indiana. Supervision is provided by staff psychologists at Easterseals Crossroads. The fellowship is not APA accredited. The position is purely clinical and does not include research.

The stipend provided is $56,000. The position requires four days on-site and allows time to complete documentation (or telehealth appointments as needed) from home one day per week. A benefits package is offered that includes health insurance, vacation time, and sick leave. There may be an opportunity for long-term employment upon successful completion of the Fellowship.
