Role Description:

The HVAC Lead installs, repairs, and maintains heating and air condition systems both in residential and commercial buildings. They also lead the HVAC team members. The HVAC Lead routinely works directly with dispatch personnel and other team leads to ensure customer satisfaction while meeting department and company goals. Presenting themself as a senior company representative. The HVAC Lead often communicates directly with customers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure accurate communication of job/project status and requirements. They direct daily operations of the HVAC Department by successfully performing the task, duties, and responsibilities listed.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs new HVAC units in residential and commercial buildings. 
  • Designs, makes, and installs ductwork and thermostats to control HVAC systems. 
  • Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they operate properly. 
  • Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units. 
  • Install replacement parts on existing HVAC units. 
  • Maintains the inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements. 
  • Complies with company and industry safety standards. 
  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains HVAC technicians as required to meet workload demands and customer or customers expectations and requirements. 
  • Excelling as an HVAC Lead by overseeing the technicians that install, repair and maintain heating and air conditioning units in a residential setting, providing guidance and technical expertise, as well as maintaining direct involvement with dispatch personnel to ensure customer satisfaction and company goals are met.
  • Supervises and directs the HVAC technicians to effectively perform the functions of equipment repair, installation, start-up, operation, and other duties as requested to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Reviews technicians’ work to ensure quality meets established standards, techniques, and safety requirements; makes recommendations as requirements to improve quality and productivity. 
  • Schedules and conducts one-on-one meetings with HVAC team members on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. 
  • Establishes and maintains a regular training program to ensure that HVAC technicians are properly trained on the latest service techniques and safety procedures for equipment and general working conditions. 
  • Communicates regularly with dispatch to ensure that personnel are being scheduled properly by skill level, efficiency, and training requirements 
  • Communicates daily with dispatch reporting on project information, esteemed time to complete jobs, labor hours, and parts or material used. 
  • Maintains communication with vendors and factory personnel concerning warranty issues, products, premature failure, and other issues as they apply to products and equipment sold and serviced by the HVAC Service Department. 
  • Reviews work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy.
  • Cleaning, organizing, and tracking inventory for HVAC service vehicles and HVAC shop. 
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Cleaning, adjusting, and aiding in repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions, and customers' requirements.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little guidance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 


Physical Requirements: 

  • Physically able to work on HVAC units. 
  • Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year. 
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more at a time. 


Requirements: 

  • High school diploma, a GED, or a suitable equivalent
  • 10 or more years of mechanical experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship required 
  • HVAC Journeyman or Master License

Schedule: 

Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week plus rotating on-call schedule

On-site in Williamsport, MD.
