GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Must have good vision/sight (must meet industry standards and not have colorblindness), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary. Must have good attention to detail to use measuring and testing equipment with no errors produced. Must be team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated. Must be able to multitask and switch tasks immediately to meet shipping production goals and pour schedules. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to pass a pre-employment aptitude test with 80% or above. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment including a respirator mask when using some chemicals. Must be willing to work any shift. Must be able to read, understand, and interpret lab work instructions, drawings and customer and industry specifications to produce test results for internal and external customers and audits. Must be able to work with chemicals including acids and bases. Must be able to be trained to use a variety of machinery including, band saw, drill press, and lathe. Must be able to use precision testing equipment and computer software. Must be able to complete repetitive testing daily, monthly, and yearly by following written work instructions, company policy, customer requirements, and state regulations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Must be able to perform general testing on metals and sand for tensile strength and hardness, optical emissions spectroscopy, salt spray using chemicals and following written work instructions.
  • Must be able to analyze acid etch tanks in Florescent Penetrant Inspection.
  • Must be able to polish metal samples on a polishing wheel and use a microscope to review grain size.
  • Must be able to machine aluminum and magnesium tensile specimens.
  • Must be able to perform metallographic testing.
  • Must be able to work independently to operate a band saw, drill press, lathe, and mill.
  • Must be able to work with fiberglass tubing.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including programs like Microsoft Office, BLIS, and Machine specific software.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems and come up with solutions.
