JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant role is a full-time position within the accounting department with a candidate possessing 1-3 years of experience in an accounting/bookkeeping environment, with an emphasis on data/transaction entry and analysis, data quality assurance. This position would report to the Senior Accountant and Company Controller.
The Accountant would be involved in the input, review, and processing of trust account transactions as well as processing company-related accounts payable and company-related financial reconciliations. The Accountant would be involved in the creation of invoices for trust fees that would be provided to clients to ensure Alliance Trust Company receives payment for the trust administration services provided. The Accountant may be engaged in collecting past due invoices by contacting the client whose invoice is past due.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Process a large volume of trust account transactions, including verifying transaction categorization and validating accuracy across multiple platforms.
- Record and process trust-related distributions and expenses.
- Setup and creation of trust invoices.
- Record and process company accounts payable.
- Reconciliation of company books and records.
- Preparation and reconciliation of client trust statements.
- Record and maintain trust assets.
- Prepare daily check deposits (checks, wires and ACHs) including posting into the daily ledger of client activity with proper coding, Deposit checks after the ledger is completed.
- Track personal property of firm for annual filing with the state.
- Create and code client checks out of trust accounting software.
- Other tasks as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work with minimum oversight.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately completing repetitive tasks timely.
- Ability to work well within a team dynamic in a hybrid work environment.
- Evidence of flexibility and adaptability to change in priorities and ability to multi-task.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, database, internet, and applicable financial and tax software (including intermediate Excel skills; SalesForce experience preferred; QuickBooks experience required)
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
- Experience handling sensitive and/or confidential financial information and maintaining ongoing confidentiality.
REQUIRED
- QuickBooks knowledge
- One (1) to three (3) years of transactional or data entry experience in an accounting or bookkeeping environment
- Familiarity with Accounting Principles (debits, credits, transaction coding, cash/non-cash transactions, etc.)
- Salesforce knowledge a plus
- Basic banking knowledge
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Trust accounting experience a plus
- Microsoft Excel knowledge and the ability to manipulate data in a spreadsheet.
EDUCATION
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or an associate’s accounting degree with 2-3 years’ experience. Non-degreed candidates will be considered depending on length and type of experience.
POSITION/WORK LOCATION:
- The Accountant role is in the 3-4 days in office/remaining days remote.
